The story of Esker begins in 2018 when longtime friends, entrepreneurs and outdoor enthusiasts, Andy Boniface and Patrick Long, were having a beer after a typically wet, muddy and cold North Shore mountain bike ride. The topic of the day was the exceptional performance of their wool base layers and the untapped potential for natural materials to make a comeback in outdoor products. 

Being in the middle of the innovative ‘rectech’ community of the PNW, it was clear they weren’t alone in their love of natural materials. It was only a matter of time until they found an exciting new application for wool - a sustainable orthotic, one that didn’t stink or get cold or clammy, like the plastic and foam aftermarket insoles they both used. After three years of refining the product and developing the brand they launched Esker Insoles in 2021.
